The Beatitudes in Modern English Vernacular

The Beatitudes in Modern English Vernacular
(Based on Matthew 5:3-12)

Happy and in a very good place are those who live in such a way that demonstrate that they understand just how much they need God, and how lost and incomplete we are without our being in right relationship with Him. God’s rule and authority are entrusted to such people.

Happy and in a very good place are those who have godly sorrow for offending God by the way they have lived in light of His goodness, faithfulness and grace. Such people will find times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.

Happy and in a very good place are those who have inner strength and courage and demonstrate real humility before God and men. Such people will come to dwell and prosper in God’s new creation.

Happy and in a very good place are those whose desire to walk in God’s ways is as vital to them as their desire for food and water. Such people will have that desire fully satisfied.

Happy and in a very good place are those who are quick to forgive others’ trespasses, for in the same manner they will receive forgiveness for their trespasses from the Lord.

Happy and in a very good place are those who have a completely loyal attitude toward God and His ways. Such people will perceive and discern what God has done and how He’s actively moving and working.

Happy and in a very good place are those who work to bring reconciliation between God and men as well as people. Such will be called God’s true children because they will be acting like their Father in Heaven.

Happy and in a very good place are those who are treated with hostility and abuse for doing what is good, just and right in God’s sight. God’s rule and authority are entrusted to such people.

Happy and in a very good place are you when people angrily and insultingly criticize you, or act with hostility and ill-treatment toward you, and say bad things about you falsely because you believe and follow the Lord Jesus, the King of Kings and God’s anointed and chosen Messiah. Be happy and glad about it because you will be rewarded for it by God. You are in good company, His prophets, apostles and disciples who came before you were treated the same way.
